Recognize this school? If you do, then welcome home!

Welcome to Wurzburg Wolves Dot Com!elcome to the home of Würzburg American High School Alumni!  Unfortunately, if you've just found this site, you've missed five fantastic reunions that Bob Manwaring, Class of '76, has already hosted.  The 1990 gathering was in Orlando and the 1995, 2000, 2003 and 2006 reunions were held at the Gold Coast Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.  We've had "howling" goods time at the reunions.  If you're up for a challenge, commit to finding and encouraging at least one friend from WAHS to register on this site.  This is how we've grown throughout the years, by word-of-mouth and by alumni taking the initiative to search for old friends themselves.  Thank you for your assistance!

The next reunion is planned for Friday and Saturday, June 26th and 27th, of 2009 in Las Vegas.  Plan on joining us for a long walk down memory lane.  If you're really excited about attending the reunion, you should also consider coming early.  The Thursday night gathering of the pack at the Las Vegas Hofbrauhaus has proved to be quite an event in itself!  In 2006, there were approximately 90 Wolves that gathered at the Hofbrauhaus and the bier, schnitzel and music really took us "home!"  And to top it off, Tiny McConnell, Class of '75, brought the whole crowd to its feet when he sang his rendition of American Pie, which has become the reunion anthem.  If you don't know the words, then study up.  The video of Tiny below speaks for itself.  (As a reminder, the Thursday night gathering is NOT a planned reunion event and is NOT included in the reunion fees.)

If you are a family member, or a friend, of a Wolf that is no longer with us, please go to this site and provide more information so that we may honor our friend at the 2009 reunion.  Thank you to Petra (Benton) Holland '80 for heading up this project.

At the urging of Gene Foreman '66 and Ralph Janoe '69, we looking for volunteers to scan their yearbooks so we may archive our heritage in digital format.  Your assistance will accomplish a couple of things...first of all, it will allow all Wolves visiting this site the opportunity to view their yearbook(s).  Secondly, for those that have lost their yearbooks, they can request a cd of their yearbook(s).  Lastly, we will be able to view the yearbooks at the upcoming 2009 "All-Class" Alumni Reunion.  If you are willing to volunteer, please contact Petra (Benton) Holland, so she can keep track of who is doing what!  Here are the specifics for scanning:  We prefer large, high resolution scans.  We can always reduce their size depending on what we're doing with them.  Using a limited knowledge of scanning and a test page which was just scanned, Petra would like each page to be scanned at a resolution of 600 dpi.  This resolution will be the default.  Please save the original files in their large high-resolution state.  Filenames should be the following format: year-page #.jpg.  (Example: 76-1.jpg where the year is the graduating year.  Please go by the page number on the pages in the actual yearbook.)  PLEASE don't forget to scan the cover as well!!!  You'll need plenty of storage space to save all of the pages.  If you have an external hard drive, you'll want to save the files there until they're burned on the cd and sent on their way!  Don't worry about emailing any of the files, they'll be too big for emailing purposes.  When you are done scanning the entire yearbook, please place the files on a cd and contact Petra for mailing instructions.  Many thanks to Gene Foreman '66, Ralph Janoe '69 and Petra (Benton) Holland '80 for bringing this dream project back to life!!!  They are both available for assistance as well.

You are most likely aware that Würzburg American High School officially closed in June of 2008.  Many lucky alumnus attended the final graduation and closing ceremony.  You may click here to view a publication containing photos and more information.  It's the end of an era folks!  Now it's up to us to keep the spirit alive.  We've done a pretty good job of it in the past few years and I expect the Wolf Pack to remain quite strong in the coming years.

On this site, you can search the database for old friends, read current "news," inquire about letter jackets from Balfour, link to the DODDS site to request high school transcripts, submit or view biographies, view LOTS of photos, chat with old friends using the "Chat Now" link below or talk to them on the Internet by becoming a member of Skype.  Enjoy your visit here and come back often!  Listen to a welcome message from Bob!

If you would like to join in on discussions that other Wolves are having, you may login and leave a message in "Sammie's Forum," named in the memory of Sam Goodhope '73.  Sammie was an active participant in this message board until his untimely passing on April 19, 2003.

Your name and grad year or attendance years and email address are requested when you post a message.  Providing your email address in the message will allow other Wolves to contact you directly should they wish to discuss your postings personally with you.  Please understand that "Sammie's Forum" is a home for all Wolves and all Wolves should feel safe there.  Please DO NOT post remarks that disrespect another member of the Pack and please DO NOT make anonymous posts, as they will be deleted.  With that said, please join us today!  You're bound to become another "regular" in Sammie's Forum!

To be able to login, you need to: (1) already be registered in the database and (2) provide a Username and Password to Bob.  Please send an email message (from your email address in the alumni database) containing the Username and Password that you would like to .  Once confirmed by Bob, you may click on the login button below to enter Sammie's Forum.  Usernames and Passwords are required to enter Sammie's Forum.  This came about due to abuse from outsiders in our previous message board.

This site is dedicated to my dad, John R. (Bob) Manwaring, who taught at WAHS from 1972 until the closure in 2008.

Mark Personeus, WAHS Class of '73, was kind enough to see my parents off on their final train trip from Würzburg to Frankfurt am Main on June 18, 2008.
