William Budd
La Crosse, WI
Date: February 22, 2000
We left Kitzingen (WAHS) in November 1963 and returned to El Segundo California
where I finished HS. I joined the Army in 1965 and served in the Dominican
Republic with the 82d Airborne Division during their civil war. While there I
ran into Bill and Doug Weyrick. After returning to the states I went to Viet Nam
with the 173D Airborne Brigade. HOOAH! After being discharged from the Army I
became a journeyman cabinetmaker in California and then later moved to
Washington DC and worked at the Smithsonian Institution until deciding to try to
recapture my youth by reenlisting in the Army. I'm a MSG stationed at Ft McCoy,
WI as an instructor.
Best Memory: Spending week-ends at the AYA with Bill and Doug Weyrick, Pat
and Haunani Nash.
Lori Neumann (Lorelei Moss)
Lone Tree, CO
Education: University of Nebraska/Lincoln
Song: Where are you little girl? to Peggy Smith and Peggy Miller
Date: February 29, 2000
Met and married mechanical engineering student Roger Neumann in college. Have
been married 30 years and have three terrific children: a physical therapist, a
scenographer (theater stage designer), and a computer wizard. Have had the
wonderful advantage of being a stay-at-home mom and active in all the kids'
activities and sports. May it be said that I never let grass grow under my feet!
All our married life we have been corporate gypsies (Lucent Technologies),
living in Ann Arbor, Omaha, New Jersey, Atlanta (twice), St. Louis, and Denver.
The frequent Army moves prepared me well for this role! Seems strange to be
looking at retirement in a few years. Look out Golden Years, here I come! Hope
to see long-lost classmates at the 2000 reunion in Las Vegas!
Best Memory: Bus rides to football games, drinking beer at the local
gasthaus, study hall in the annex, taking all day to decorate the gym with crepe
paper for sock hops, making paper stained glass windows in the geometry
classroom, getting that impossible A in biology, Quonset huts and muddy
walkways, after prom party at Joy Birdsong's house, my potentially fatal
automobile accident within weeks of graduation, the clanging of the old machines
in typing class, using the finger staining mimeograph machine in the front
office, pep rallies and skits in the gym, winning Student Council elections,
putting together a yearbook that had to be completed by January in hopes of
getting it published before June, homecoming dances and graduation in the
Officer's Club, all colors of tennis shoes, and college-bound ship romances.
John Barnes
Tucson, Arizona
After leaving Kitzingen in June 1963, we returned to Ft. Hood, TX, where my Dad
retired from the service in Jan ’64 since he didn’t want to go to Viet Nam.
Soon moved to Riverside, California where I graduated from high school in ‘65
and attended college at the University of California, Riverside. Graduated with
a degree in biology in 1969. Went to graduate school at Johns Hopkins in
Baltimore getting my PhD in Molecular Biology in 1976. Got married in 1973 and
eventually had three children, two girls (Carrie and Sarah) and a boy, Luke.
Carrie recently presented me with my first granddaughter. Got divorced in 1995
and haven’t remarried. Worked for the DuPont Pharmaceuticals Company for 23
years including R&D in Wilmington, DE and for the last two years in field
sales in Tucson, AZ. We were acquired by Bristol-Myers Squibb in the Fall of
2001. I attended reunions in ’92 (Dallas), ’97 (Houston), and ’00 (Las
Vegas). After the ’92 reunion, I discovered that Sallie Adams! (Harris) was
living in Maryland so I looked her up. I don’t know where she is now but would
love to hear from her. If anyone knows where she is, I’d appreciate an email
at jbarnes520@aol.com, or john.barnes@bms.com.
My sister, Mary Lou, also went to the Las Vegas reunion and is planning on
attending the mini-reunion in Denver this summer. Favorite memories of Kitzingen
and Wurzburg: Biology teacher Walter Lucas, parties at the Waldes Ruhe in
Kitzingen, football team trips, Pat and John Vozel, being invited to the
Junior-Senior Prom as a sophomore and after prom party (Strawberry Wine!).
